Donate your Aeroplan Miles and Receive a Gift from my Travels!!!

Hi everyone!

I hope you enjoyed part one of my India Trip. Part 2 will be posted this week in addition to some short videos from India. I will also be posting about my trip to NYC from December and my road trip around North Eastern USA with my boyfriend from April including my packing list. As always my packing list is one of my most popular posts.

While everyone knows I try my hardest to travel frequently and on a dirt cheap budget, but travel can sometimes pull hard on the purse strings. My major expense is airfare. This is why I am hosting an Aeroplan Miles trade.

What is an Aeroplan Miles trade?

Aeroplan is a loyalty program associated with Air Canada and Star Alliance that allows members to transfer their miles to other members. To offset the cost of my airfare I am asking readers to donate their expiring or unused miles to me*. In exchanged I will send them a gift and a post card from my destination. Pending destination for 2013 is South Africa and China. Look below to see what your gift will be. Miles will be used to cover or lower the cost of my travels.

Miles transfer can be done online and instantly through

West side studios private Rm 103

This is my private room at West side stuidos hostel in NYC. Hostel was under construction. Not sound proof. Two bathroom for one floor. Never had to wait for the bathroom though. Great location, near subway stop, but in a residential area of NYC which gave the living in NYC feeling.

May 24th 2008 2nd full day NYC

May 24th, 2008

It’s my second full day in NYC. I spent most of it lost. Understand at this time most of the subway system or at least any route I had wanted to take was underconstruction and had to deal with re routing on top of holiday schedules.

Friday I went to ground Zero, Trinity Church, Battery Park, Staten Island Ferry, Time Square. Ground Zero is currently being rebuilt into the freedom towers. It didn’t hit home as much as it would have a few years ago when it was just a gaping hole. Now it more like a contruction zone for a regular new skyscrapper. I must admit I stood there mad knowing what once was there and the lives that were lost, and how all that way taken away from me, and the people who were involve.

Today I went to the empire state building. Amazing view! For a line that long I was incredibly impressed how organized and fast moving it was. The Vatican Musume can learn a thing or two from them.

After the Empire State building I walked up Fifth Ave to Central Park. I had attempted to call my parents while walking. With all the street noise the call didn’t go well, and I spent .99/minute plus long distants to repeatly say “What did you say?” On the way I stoped by Rockerfeller Center. After spending hours in central park (I could have easily spent the entire day there) I made my way down Fifth Ave again to Central Park.

Later I went to ‘Top of the Rock’ for a better view of the City and the Empire State building.

I am currently laying in bed of my spartan hostle room. In the center of a lumpy double bed, a window to the right and a single sink of the left. Not exactly sound proof either. I can hear t he guy in the next room laughing as he watches some spanish television show. I’ve thrown some things at the wall and he doesn’t even stop for a second.

New York City has been on my list of things and places to do before I die list. It’s great, dont get my wrong. But not nearly as great as I had once dreamt it to be.

Before leaving I was jokingly told not to get shot. So far I’ve never felt at risk of that happening. It like Toronto just a little faster pase.

New York City May 22nd 2008

New York City May 22nd 2008

How do I get myself into these situations? I know I was forgetting something and by something I mean my pin # for my prepaid credit card for cash withdrawls.

My expenses costed me more then I thought, even though my cab to Aldershot was less then expected.

First food on the the train was outrageously expensive. I should have brought more of my own food. Then getting stuck in traffic from Pen Station to the hostel costed me 23$ with tip. The when I got to the hostel I found out my room price I was quoted did not include taxes, not to mention they did not have a record of my reservation. Despite sending me an email conformation a week earlier.

I do not have access to money until tomorrow when I get paid. How much? Not 100% sure.

The train ride down was fine. Filled with friendly people, snorers and crying babies. However even a long trip, it leaves you with plenty of time to think.

I’ve been single by choice for the last 2 1/2 years since Matt and I broke up. I had stayed single 1. because I never wanted to be hurt again the way Matt hurt me, blah blah blah, 2. freedom, I’ve never wanted anything or anyone holding me back or giveme a reason to hold myself back from travel and adventure.

Of course at times it would have been nice to have someone with me or to miss a little while a way. But in the end I remind myself about the miss oportunities I had while with Matt and how it great it felt to be free of any guilt of leaving someone at home.

Introductions to New York City and Montreal.

I have always been a little bit of a procrastinator with my blogs but this time I really do have a reason for taking so long to update my blog with diary post from my New York City trip.

When I return from NYC I was hit with shifts after shifts, over time after over time. About three weeks after being home from NYC, I got home from work one Saturday, mom tells me my grandmother has passed away. A week later I was in a death trap for the 7 hour car ride from Brantford back home to Montreal for her funeral.

I got back to Brantford from Montreal last Sunday, had Monday off and have been working like crazy since. Now I finally have a night and a day off I will update my post.
